More snowfall possible early this week for Lesotho and the Drakensberg13 September 2024 [updated 16 September]By Staff Writer
Snowfall is indicated in the data for Lesotho from Monday and into Tuesday, as per the map. Between 10cm and 20cm is currently indicated for the area marked in purple in Lesotho on the map. Snow is possible for the top section of Sani Pass (light) as well as around Afriski on Tuesday. No low-level snow is expected for South Africa but snow may be visible on the Drakensberg from areas like Champagne Valley, Underberg and Himeville in KwaZulu-Natal once the weather clears. More snowfall is on the radar for later in the week but a separate snow forecast will be posted for this period. ALSO READ: Heavy snowfall that will affect driving on the N3 and other routes looking likely from Friday. ALSO READ: Widespread severe thunderstorms, wind, hail and possible flooding on Tuesday. ALSO READ: Be prepared for safe winter travel and snow chasing trips. The map indicates where we are seeing the possibility of snow, but it may not fall in all of the areas shown on the map. As with any forecast of any kind (temperature, clouds, rain, wind), what eventually happens may or may not be similar to the forecast.
