SATURDAY WEATHER: Showers and a warning for damaging wind but a LEVEL 6 warning for disruptive snow from Sunday

Very cold, wet and windy conditions expected over the southern parts of both the Free State, Northern Cape and the Eastern Cape as well as south western parts of Kwazulu-Natal from Sunday evening as a result of a combination of a cut-off-low and the cold front, spreading to the rest of the Free State with snowfalls on Monday and Tuesday.

Farmers and the public in general are advised to take necessarily precautions.

Warnings from the SA Weather Service:

A. level 2 warning for damaging winds leading to localised damage to settlements (formal and informal) as well as risk of runaway fires over the central parts of the Northern Cape.

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the eastern parts of Northern Cape as well as the northwestern parts of the Eastern Cape.

Warnings from the SA Weather Service from Sunday:

A. level 6 warning for disruptive snow leading to disruptions to livelihood, major traffic disruptions and some communities temporary inaccessible over Dr Beyers Naude, Chris Hani, Senqu, Elundini and Matatiele Local Municipalities of the Eastern Cape on Sunday into Tuesday.

B. level 2 warning for disruptive snow leading to localised traffic disruptions, isolated loss of livestock and crops and localised disruptions to services in places over Koukamma, Kouga, Blue Crane, Raymond Mhlaba, Amahlathi, Intsika Yethu, Dr AB Xuma, Mhlontlo, and Mzimvubu Local Municipalities of the Eastern Cape on Sunday into Tuesday.

C. level 2 warning for disruptive rain leading to localised flooding of susceptible settlements, roads and bridges in places over Koukamma Local Municipality of the Eastern Cape on Sunday.

Morning frost in places in the south, otherwise fine and cool to warm.

MPUMALANGA
Cloudy and foggy conditions in the morning over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and cool but warm over the Lowveld with isolated showers and rain over the Escarpment and the Lowveld.

LIMPOPO
Cloudy to partly cloudy over the east at first, otherwise partly cloudy and cool but warm in places.

NORTH-WEST
Fine and cool to warm, becoming partly cloudy over the southern parts.

THE FREE STATE
Fine and cool, becoming partly cloudy.

THE NORTHERN CAPE
Fine to partly cloudy, windy and cool to warm. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong southerly to south-easterly.

THE WESTERN CAPE
Cloudy in the south-west with light rain from the late morning spreading along the south coast in the afternoon, otherwise fine. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh west to south-westerly

THE WESTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Morning fog in places in the south, otherwise partly cloudy, windy and warm, but cloudy and cool in places along the coast. Isolated showers and rain are expected west of Gqeberha at night. The wind along the coast will be Light to moderate northerly in places until mi-morning, otherwise fresh to strong south-westerly.

THE EASTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Windy in the west, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm, but cloudy with fog in places south of the escarpment in the morning and again from the evening. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-easterly, becoming fresh to strong south-westerly from late morning.

KWAZULU-NATAL
Morning fog over the interior, otherwise fine to partly cloudy and warm but cool in the south-west. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh northerly to north-easterly, becoming moderate south-westerly.
