Rainfall possible in all provinces on Sunday and a level 4 warning for severe thunderstorms

Partly cloudy and warm to cool conditions can be expected on Sunday with possible isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers over some parts of the country, but widespread over KwaZulu-Natal.

From Monday it should be fine in the north-west, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm its isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers but widespread in the east.

Warnings from the SA Weather Service for Sunday:

A. level 4 warning for severe thunderstorms accompanied by heavy downpours are expected to result in flooding of susceptible roads, low-lying areas and bridges as well as excessive lightning, damaging winds and hail leading to localized damage to infrastructure, settlements (informal), property, vehicles, livelihood and livestock over in the central and northern parts of KwaZulu-Natal.

B. level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms accompanied by heavy downpours are expected to result in localized flooding of susceptible roads, low-lying areas and bridges as well as damaging winds and hail leading to localized damage to infrastructure, settlements (informal), property, vehicles, livelihood and livestock over the extreme eastern parts of Free State and parts of Mpumalanga.

C. level 1 warning for severe thunderstorms over parts of Gauteng, North West and the Free State as per the map above.

Extremely high fire conditions are expected over the south-eastern parts of Limpopo.

GAUTENG
Cloudy and cool with isolated showers and thundershowers.
The expected UVB sunburn index: Very High

MPUMALANGA
Partly cloudy and cool to warm, with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers, except in the Lowveld where it be hot.

LIMPOPO
Fine in the north, otherwise partly cloudy warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers except in the Lowveld.

NORTH-WEST
Cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers.

THE FREE STATE
Cloudy and cool to warm, with isolated showers and thunder-showers but scattered over the extreme eastern parts where morning fog is possible.

THE NORTHERN CAPE
Partly cloudy in the extreme west, otherwise cloudy and cool with isolated showers and thundershowers in the east. It will be warm in places in the north-east. The wind along the coast will be light to south to south-Easterly.

THE WESTERN CAPE
Partly cloudy and cool with light rain along the south coast. It will be cloudy in the east. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly but strong along the south-west coast from the afternoon.

Cloudy with isolated to scattered showers and rain. The wind along the coast will be moderate southerly to south-westerly

THE EASTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Cloudy with scattered showers and thundershowers. The wind along the coast will be moderate south-westerly.

KWAZULU-NATAL
Cloudy and cool with widespread showers and thundershowers. It will be warm in the north. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh northerly to north-easterly but southerly to south-westerly south of Durban, spreading northwards from the afternoon.
