Morning or evening fog can be expected in a number of areas on Friday.

Warnings from the SA Weather Service for Friday:

A. level 4 warning for severe thunderstorms over parts of the Free State and North West.

B. level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms with strong damaging winds and heavy downpours, leading to localised flooding and damages to susceptible formal/informal settlements and infrastructure over parts of the Free State, North West, the Northern Cape, Gauteng and Limpopo.

GAUTENG
Cloudy and cool with isolated showers and thundershowers.

MPUMALANGA
Morning fog patches along the escarpment, otherwise cloudy and cold to cool with isolated showers and thundershowers.

LIMPOPO
Morning fog patches along the escarpment, otherwise cloudy and cool with isolated showers and thundershowers.

NORTH-WEST
Cloudy, windy and cool to cold with scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated in the east.

THE FREE STATE
Cloudy and cool to cold, with scattered showers and thundershowers.

THE NORTHERN CAPE
Fine and warm but hot in Kamiesberg Municipality, otherwise partly cloudy and warm in the east with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered in the east and central. Foggy conditions will be expected along the coast from the evening. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-easterly, becoming north-westerly to westerly from the afternoon.

THE WESTERN CAPE
Fine in the west, where it will be hot along West Coast Municipality, otherwise, partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers from the late afternoon in the east. The wind along the coast will be fresh easterly to north-easterly along the south coast, otherwise moderate south-easterly, becoming light to moderate westerly from the afternoon along the west.

THE WESTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Partly cloudy and cool, but warm along the coast and adjacent interior with isolated thundershowers over the interior. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh easterly to north-easterly.

THE EASTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated thundershowers, but cloudy and cold with scattered thundershowers north of the escarpment. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong north-easterly.

KWAZULU-NATAL
Morning fog patches over the western interior, otherwise cloudy and cold to cool with isolated showers and rain. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh easterly to south-easterly in the north, otherwise northerly to north-easterly spreading northwards from the morning reaching strong in places in the south.
