THURSDAY WEATHER: Foggy, cold in places, thunderstorms in the Northern Cape and a wind warning for the weekend

From Friday it should be partly cloudy and cold, except in the extreme western interior where it will be warm. Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible over the eastern parts of South Africa and the northern parts of the Northern Cape, as well as North West.

A. level 1 warning for damaging winds resulting in localised problems for high-sided vehicles over parts of the Richterveld, Nama Khoi and Kamiesberg municipalities of the Northern Cape on Friday and Saturday.

GAUTENG
Cloudy in the north in the morning, where it will be cool, otherwise fine and cold becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon.

MPUMALANGA
Cloudy in the morning with fog over the Highveld and escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and cool but warm in the Lowveld with isolated rain and showers.

LIMPOPO
Cloudy in the morning with fog over the central and eastern parts, otherwise partly cloudy and cool with isolated showers and rain in places in the Lowveld.

NORTH WEST
Partly cloudy and cool.

THE FREE STATE
Morning fog patches in the east, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to cold.

THE NORTHERN CAPE
Partly cloudy, and cool, with isolated showers and thundershowers in the north-west and north-central parts. The wind along the coast will be light and variable, becoming moderate southerly to south-easterly from the late afternoon.

THE WESTERN CAPE
Cloudy over along the south coast with a chance of light rain, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate south-westerly over the south coast, otherwise fresh to strong southerly to south-easterly.

THE WESTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Fine in the north in the morning with fog in places, otherwise partly cloudy and cool becoming cloudy with isolated showers and rain along the coast and adjacent interior from afternoon. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-westerly.

Fine in the north in the morning with fog in places, otherwise partly cloudy and cool becoming cloudy with isolated showers and rain along the coast and adjacent interior from evening. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate south-westerly.

KWAZULU-NATAL
Morning and evening fog patches over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to cold with isolated showers and rain over the extreme eastern parts and along the coast and adjacent interior where it will be cloudy. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate easterly to south-easterly in the extreme north otherwise north-westerly becoming north-easterly by late morning but south-westerly in the south towards the evening.
