Free State snow lover gets help with his proposal in the snow

Marnus is a Snow Report Southern Africa fan from the Free State who contacted us to help him at the end of September because he was determined to propose to his girlfriend in snow.

Marnus met Kate-lynn, who is from Gauteng, while they were both working in Durban last year and as both are very adventurous it was an ideal match.

Marnus acquired the ring in September and planned to propose to Kate-lynn in snow as soon as possible. His friends laughed at his plan and said he would need to wait until next year.

A blessing for Marnus’ plan came in the form of a forecast for some snow in Lesotho at the end of September, so he contacted Snow Report Southern Africa to get our help to make sure that he got the timing and location correct.

After a few days of messages back and forth with us to work out the logistics, he set his plan in motion and arranged with Kate-lynn to "go and see snow in Lesotho before work" early on Tuesday 30 September.

The couple left at 3am in the morning and made it to Kotisephola Pass (Black Mountain), which is a little over 10km into Lesotho from the top of Sani Pass, and found the snow that they were looking for (as per our forecast).

Marnus proposed and a delighted Kate-lynn said yes to the proposal.

We were obviously very happy to get the photo and to hear the story from Marnus afterwards.
