Low-level snowfall possible in four SA provinces and Lesotho from early next week

Low-level snowfall is possible in the Eastern Cape, Free State, KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga and Lesotho between Tuesday and Thursday next week as per the map, with heavy snowfall currently indicated for some areas.

In the Eastern Cape snow is currently indicated at higher elevations around Nieu-Bethesda and Hogsback, and low-level around Molteno, Dordrecht, Barkly East, Lady Grey, Rhodes, Khowa (Elliot), Ugie, Maclear, Matatiele

In the Free State snowfall is possible around Bethlehem, Fouriesburg, Clarens, Harrismith, Warden, Reitz, Memel and the Golden Gate National Park.

Low-level snowfall is currently indicated for KwaZulu-Natal, including potentially on the N3 between Durban and Johannesburg. Snow is currently indicated for Kokstad, Swartberg, Underberg, Himeville, Kamberg, Bulwer, Mooi River, Estcourt, Howick, Bergville, Winterton, Champagne Valley, Van Reenen and Newcastle, as well as all of Sani Pass.

Heavy snow is currently indicated in the southern Drakensberg area.

Snow is currently indicated for in the higher ground around Dullstroom, Carolina, Lothair, Ermelo, Amersfort, Daggakraal, Volksrust and Wakkerstroom in Mpumalanga.

Snow is indicated for much of Lesotho, including around Semonkong and Afriski with heavy snow in the east.

This is still an advance forecast and is likely to change leading up to the time.
