Snow still possible across South Africa and Lesotho this week30 September 2020By Staff Writer
We’ve seen a dramatic reduction in the snow since our last forecast, and even the disruptive snowfall warning put out by the South African Weather Service appears to have been withdrawn. Light snowfalls are still possible in parts of the Western Cape, North Cape and Eastern Cape, as well as Lesotho and the KwaZulu-Natal Drakensberg from Wednesday 30 September until Friday 2 October. While most snow is likely to be fairly light, some high-peaks in the Western Cape and the high ground around Sutherland might get just over 10cm as per the map. The central Drakensberg might also get around 10cm of snow on the highest peaks. At this point no low-level snow is expected in any part of the country. The map indicates where SnowReportSA is currently seeing the possibility of snow, but it may not fall in all of the areas shown on the map.
