Wet weather in the eastern half of South Africa starting from Sunday

It will be partly cloudy and warm with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers over the eastern areas on Saturday and Sunday.

A heat wave with persistently high temperatures is expected in places over Limpopo and Mpumalanga on Sunday, according to the SA Weather Service.

Very hot and humid weather resulting in extremely uncomfortable conditions are expected in the Lowveld, Limpopo Valley and Western Bushveld of Limpopo on Saturday and Sunday.

Isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers are expected over the central and eastern areas of the country from Monday.

Warnings from the SA Weather Service (SAWS):

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the eastern parts of the Free State, most parts of North West and Limpopo, extreme western parts of Mpumalanga as well as the extreme southern parts of Gauteng.

THE EASTERN PARTS OF THE NORTHERN CAPE
Partly cloudy in the north-east at first and along the coast, otherwise fine and cool to warm. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate southerly to south-westerly.

THE WESTERN CAPE

It will become fine in places in the eastern parts from the afternoon. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh westerly to south-westerly, becoming fresh to strong north-westerly in the south-west coast by the afternoon.

Cloudy with light rain and fog in places in the morning, otherwise partly cloudy and cool with isolated showers but scattered in the east from afternoon. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate north-easterly, becoming south-westerly south of Kei River by late afternoon.

KWAZULU-NATAL
Cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thunder-showers but scattered in the south-east. The wind along the coast will be moderate south-westerly in the north at first, otherwise fresh to strong north-easterly spreading northwards in the afternoon.

Durban
Cloudy with scattered showers and thundershowers.
Wind: Moderate easterly to north-easterly.
Minimum/Maximum: 17/21°C

Richards Bay
Cloudy with isolated late afternoon showers and thundershowers.
Wind: Light southerly to south-westerly at first, otherwise moderate to fresh north-easterly.
