![]() SAWS issues another disruptive rainfall warning for this weekend5 October 2023By Staff Writer
More possible flooding and thunderstorms are possible. SAWS has warned that accummulated rainfall in excess of 50-60mm and possibly as much as 70mm is possible in the Overberg region of the Western Cape from Friday into Saturday. Scattered to isolated showers and thundershowers are expected over the central and southern parts of South Africa, with widespread rain expected along the south, south east coast and the adjacent interior. Temperatures are expected to be hot or very hot in the north of the country but may drop below 10 degrees Celcius in the south. The following warnings were issued by SAWS on Thursday: Yellow level 2 warning for rain with a high likelihood of resulting in flooding over the Overberg region in the Western Cape from 10pm on Friday 6 October and valid until midnight on Saturday 7 October. Yellow level 1 warning for thunderstorms with a medium likelihood of heavy downpours, damaging wind and large hail over the Eastern Cape from 2pm on Friday 6 October and valid until 11pm on the same day.
