From Sunday it should be partly cloudy and warm to cool over the eastern regions with isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms possible, but widespread in KwaZulu-Natal.

As a result of accumulated rainfall from a few days days and an accumulation of another 30-80mm in less than 48hrs in the central and southern parts of KwaZulu-Natal, the result may be significant impacts prompting the LEVEL 5 warning from the SA Weather Service below.

Some late season snow is indicated for the southern Drakensberg and the south-east of Lesotho.

Warnings from the SA Weather Service:

B. level 4 warning for severe thunderstorms accompanied by heavy downpours, hail, damaging winds and excessive lightning resulting in flooding and damage to infrastructure are expected over northern KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga Highveld, and the south central parts of Limpopo.

C. level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms accompanied by heavy downpours leading to localised flooding and damage of settlements/property, and localised disruptions to power supply and communications due to wind, hail, and excessive lightning over the eastern parts of North West and the Free State, the Mpumalanga Lowveld, and escarpment, most parts of Limpopo, as well as Gauteng.

D. level 2 warning for disruptive rainfall leading to localised flooding of settlements, roads and bridges is expected in places over south-eastern Eastern Cape.
