Extremely uncomfortable conditions are expected over the Central Karoo District in the Western Cape on Saturday, according to the SA Weather Service (SAWS). Isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers can be expected but widespread in places in the south on Sunday. Warnings from the SA Weather Service for Saturday: A. yellow level 2 warning severe thunderstorms over parts of the Northern Cape, Western Cape and the Free State as per the map above. Extremely high fire conditions are expected in places over the West Coast, Cape Winelands and the Central Karoo Districts in the Western Cape. Regional forecasts from SAWS for Saturday: 1. GAUTENG Partly cloudy and warm to hot. The expected UVB sunburn index: Very high 2. MPUMALANGA Cloudy in the east in the morning with drizzle and fog patches along the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers in the northern Lowveld. 3. LIMPOPO Cloudy in the morning with drizzle and fog patches along the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers in the Lowveld, escarpment areas and north-eastern parts. 4. NORTH WEST PROVINCE Partly cloudy and warm to hot, with isolated showers and thundershowers in the west. 5. FREE STATE Partly cloudy and warm to hot, with isolated showers and thundershowers, except in the east, but scattered in the extreme west. 6.NORTHERN CAPE Morning mist along the coast and adjacent interior where it will be fine, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered in the central and south-eastern parts, where it will be very hot and windy in places. The wind along the coast will be moderate south-easterly to southerly, becoming fresh from the afternoon until the evening. 7. WESTERN CAPE Fine in the west, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot, but cool along the south-west and south coast with isolated showers and thundershowers over the north-eastern parts from the afternoon. The wind along the coast will be light and variable along the south-west and south coast until the afternoon, otherwise moderate to fresh south-easterly to easterly, becoming strong along the south-west coast from the afternoon. The expected UVB sunburn index: Extreme 8. WESTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE Morning fog in places, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated along the coast. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate easterly. 9. EASTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE Morning fog in places, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated in places along the coast. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate north-westerly. 10. KWAZULU-NATAL Morning fog in places over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated morning showers and rain except in the north-east. It will become fine from the afternoon. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate south-westerly in the south at first, otherwise moderate to fresh north-easterly, but light to moderate easterly to south-easterly in the extreme north.
