Partly cloudy and cold to cool, with isolated to scattered rain and showers over the south-western interior of the country on Friday, but widespread over the south-western parts of the Western Cape on Saturday, according to the SA Weather Service (SAWS).

Very cold, wet and windy conditions are expected over the interior of the Western Cape and Namakwa district of the Northern Cape from Saturday into Monday, and over the Eastern Cape into Wednesday.

Snowfall can be expected over high-lying areas and mountain peaks leading to icy road conditions especially over the Beaufort West municipality of the Western Cape.

Warnings from the SAWS from Friday:

A. level 1 warning for damaging winds leading to localised disruptions to small harbours and ports for short periods between Saldanha Bay and Cape Agulhas from Friday evening into Saturday evening.

1. GAUTENG
Partly cloudy and cool.

2. MPUMALANGA
Partly cloudy at first, otherwise fine and cool to warm
but cold in places.

3. LIMPOPO
Partly cloudy and cool to warm, becoming fine the evening.

4. NORTH WEST
Fine in the east at first, otherwise partly cloudy, windy
and cool.

5. FREE STATE
Partly cloudy, windy and cold to cool, with isolated showers and thundershowers in the central and western parts.

6. NORTHERN CAPE
Fine and windy in the central parts, otherwise partly cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers in the east, followed with evening fog patches along the coast. It will be cool to warm, but cold in places. The wind along the coast will be light and variable.

7. WESTERN CAPE
Fine and cool, but partly cloudy in the west. It will become cloudy in the south-west with light rain from the evening. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate westerly to north westerly, becoming fresh to strong along the south-west coast in the evening.

8. WESTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Fog in places in the south, otherwise fine and cool. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate westerly, becoming north-easterly towards the evening.

9. EASTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Fine and cool, becoming partly cloudy, with isolated showers and thundershowers in the north. It will be warm in places south of the escarpment. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-westerly.

10. KWAZULU-NATAL
Fine and warm but cool in the south-west. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh northerly to north-easterly.
