Warnings from the SA Weather Service for Friday: A. level 2 warning severe thunderstorms with heavy downpours resulting in localised flooding of susceptible roads, settlements and low-lying bridges/areas, excessive lightning, large amounts of small hail, wind damages to infrastructure is expected over Free State, south-western parts of North West, north-eastern parts of Northern Cape and the northern interior of Eastern Cape. The warning has now been extended to include parts of North West and KwaZulu-Natal, as per the map. B. level 1 warning severe thunderstorms over the southern part of Mpumalanga, as per the map. Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over most parts of Northern Cape, except in the far east and over the north-western parts of Western Cape. MPUMALANGA Morning fog and drizzle along the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered in the south. LIMPOPO Partly cloudy with morning fog and drizzle along the escarpment, with isolated showers and thundershowers in the south-west. NORTH-WEST Cloudy with morning fog patches in the east at first, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot, with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the south-west. THE FREE STATE Partly cloudy and cool to warm, with scattered showers, but isolated in the south-west. THE NORTHERN CAPE Cloudy with morning fog patches in the extreme north-west, otherwise fine and hot to very hot, becoming partly cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers in the east and north, but scattered in the extreme north-east. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south to south-easterly, becoming strong in the afternoon. THE WESTERN CAPE Partly cloudy along the south coast and adjacent interior and warm to hot but cool along the southern coast. It will be very hot over Bergrivier and Beaufort West municipalities. Isolated showers and rain are expected over the south-eastern coast from the evening. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate southerly to south-westerly along the south coast, otherwise moderate to fresh south-easterly becoming strong from the afternoon. THE WESTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE Partly cloudy, windy, and hot to very hot, but warm along the coast, with isolated evening showers and rain west of Jeffreys Bay. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-westerly, moderating in the evening. THE EASTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE Warm along the coast, otherwise partly cloudy and hot to very hot, with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the north. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate north-easterly, becoming fresh to strong south-westerly spreading eastward late morning. KWAZULU-NATAL Morning fog patches over the interior, otherwise cloudy and cool but warm in places in the north. Isolated showers and thundershowers are expected but scattered in the west. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh northerly to north-easterly.
