From Sunday it should be fine in the west, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers in the east, according to the SA Weather Service. Poor to very poor visibility due to sand and dust storms is expected over the Richtersveld, Nama-Khoi and Kamiesberg local municipalities in the Northern Cape. Frost is expected in places over the northern interior of the Eastern Cape, the south-eastern parts of the Northern Cape as well as the central and southern parts of the Free State including the Lesotho Border. As a result, the public and farmers are advised to take the necessary precautions to ensure the safety and health of their small animals, vegetables, and other vulnerable crops. The public is also advise to keep warm and avoid prolonged exposure to the morning cold conditions. Homeless people should be sheltered. Warnings from the SA Weather Service for Sunday: A. level 1 warning for damaging winds resulting in localised problems to high-sided vehicles on prone routes, power and communication interruptions, and reduced visibility due to dust storms are expected over the Richterveld, Nama-Khoi, Kamiesberg local municipalities of the Northern Cape. Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over Richtersveld and Nama Khoi local municipalities in the Northern Cape as well as the Matzikama local municipality in the Western Cape. Regional forecasts from SAWS for Sunday: 1. GAUTENG Morning fog in places in the south, otherwise cloudy and cool to cold with isolated showers and rain at first, becoming partly cloudy later in the afternoon. The expected UVB sunburn index: Low 2. MPUMALANGA Cloudy and cool to cold with isolated showers on the Highveld and southern escarpment areas. It will be warm in the Lowveld. 3. LIMPOPO Cloudy and cool with isolated showers and rain in the south-west. It will be warm in places in the Lowveld and Limpopo Valley. 4. NORTH-WEST PROVINCE Partly cloudy and cool but cloudy in the east with isolated showers and rain at first. 5. FREE STATE Fine and cool to cold, but partly cloudy in the north and central parts where it will be cloudy at first. 6. NORTHERN CAPE Fine and cool to warm becoming partly cloudy in the extreme north-east by late morning. It will be very windy over the extreme north-western parts with possible blowing sand from the morning into the afternoon. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly. 7. WESTERN CAPE Fine and cool to warm. The wind along the coast will be light and variable along the south-west coast in the morning, spreading to the south coast from mid-morning, otherwise moderate to fresh easterly to south-easterly. The expected UVB sunburn index: Moderate 8. WESTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE Cloudy with fog in places at first, otherwise fine and cool. Frost can be expected in places over the high lying areas. The wind along the coast will be light northerly in the morning and evening, otherwise light to moderate easterly. 9. EASTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE Cloudy with fog in places at first, otherwise fine and cool. Frost can be expected in places over northern interior. The wind along the coast will be Light north-westerly at first, otherwise moderate north-easterly. 10. KWAZULU-NATAL Morning fog patches over the western parts, otherwise partly cloudy and cold to cool with isolated showers and rain along the north coast and adjacent interior. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south-westerly, becoming north-easterly in the south from the afternoon, spreading northwards by late afternoon.
