SATURDAY WEATHER: A high fire danger in places but cooler on the south coast and warnings for eight provinces

Morning fog patches are likely in a few parts of the country on Saturday.

It will be very hot in the interior but milder on the south coast.

Hot and humid weather can be expected over the north-eastern parts of KwaZulu-Natal until Sunday.

Warnings from the SA Weather Service for Saturday:

A. level 4 warning for severe thunderstorms mainly over parts of KwaZulu-Natal, as per the map above.

B. level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms leading to localised flooding of susceptible roads, low-lying areas and bridges, as well as localised damage to settlements, large amounts of small hail, excessive lightning, and strong damaging winds are expected over parts of the Northen Cape, North West, Limpopo, Gauteng, Mpumalanga and the Free State, as per the map above.

C. level 1 warning for severe thunderstorms mainly over parts of the Eastern Cape, as per the map above.

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over interior of the Namakwa District of the Northern Cape and over the Bergrivier municipalities of the Western Cape.

MPUMALANGA
Cloudy at first with morning fog along the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers, except in the Lowveld.

LIMPOPO
Cloudy at first with morning fog along the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thunder-showers in the south-west.

NORTH WEST
Partly cloudy and warm to hot with scattered showers and thundershowers but isolated over the extreme west.

THE FREE STATE
Morning fog in the extreme east, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered in the east.

THE NORTHERN CAPE
Partly cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers in the north-east, otherwise fine and hot to very hot. The wind along the coast will be moderate southerly.

THE WESTERN CAPE
Morning fog in places along the coast, otherwise fine and hot to very hot, but partly cloudy and cool to warm with light rain along the south coast. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly, but light to moderate south-westerly along the south coast in the morning.

THE WESTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Cloudy in places in the south, otherwise partly cloudy and warm, with isolated thundershowers over interior. The wind along the coast will be Light to moderate southerly to south-easterly.

THE EASTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Cloudy with light drizzle along the coast, otherwise partly cloudy and warm, with isolate to scattered showers and thunder-showers. The wind along the coast will be Light to moderate south-easterly.

KWAZULU-NATAL
Morning fog over interior, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers, except in the extreme north-east. The wind along the coast will be light and variable until late morning, otherwise light to moderate easterly to north-easterly.
