WEDNESDAY WEATHER: Heavy rain in places in the north-east and a thunderstorm warning for three provinces

Extremely hot and uncomfortable conditions are expected over Kamiesberg municipality on Wednesday.

Warnings from the SA Weather Service:

A. level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms with heavy downpours, strong damaging winds, hail and excessive lightning, resulting in localised flooding of susceptible roads, low-lying areas and bridges and localised damage to settlements and infrastructure over Gauteng, central to eastern parts of North West, and central to western parts of Limpopo.

B. level 2 warning for damaging winds resulting in localised damage to settlements, disruption to beach front activities and difficulty in navigation over the Nelson Mandela Bay and Buffalo City District Municipalities, as well as the Ndlambe, Nqgushwa and Sundays River Valley Local Municipalities.

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the Matzikama municipality (Western Cape), Cederberg, Bergrivier and Kamiesberg municipalities.

THE FREE STATE
Cloudy in the east at first, otherwise partly cloudy, windy and cold to cool, with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers except over the south-eastern parts.

THE NORTHERN CAPE
Partly cloudy in the north-east, where isolated showers and thundershowers are expected, otherwise fine, windy and cool to warm. Morning fog patches are expected along the coast. The wind along the coast will be strong north-easterly.

THE WESTERN CAPE
Partly cloudy over the eastern parts in the morning, otherwise fine and warm to hot but very hot over the West Coast District. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong easterly to north-easterly along the south coast, otherwise moderate to fresh south-easterly.

THE WESTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Partly cloudy in the south at first, otherwise fine and cool to warm. It will be windy is places along the coast. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong north-easterly.

THE EASTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Cloudy along the coast at first with rain to the east of Kei River, otherwise fine and cool. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-easterly.

KWAZULU-NATAL
Morning fog patches over the interior, otherwise cloudy and cool to cold with isolated showers and rain. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate easterly to south-easterly, becoming moderate to fresh north-easterly in the extreme south and spreading to Durban in the evening.
