Hot with a severe thunderstorm warning for KZN and Mpumalanga on Thursday

Cool along the south-west coast, otherwise warm to hot but very hot in places. Isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers are expected in most parts of the country on Thursday, according to the SA Weather Service.

Warnings from the SA Weather Service for Thursday:

A. yellow level 2 warning severe thunderstorms with damaging winds, hail, severe lightning and heavy downpours leading to localized flooding and damage to infrastructure are expected over the western parts of KwaZulu-Natal and south-eastern parts of Mpumalanga.

Regional forecasts from SAWS for Thursday:

1. GAUTENG
Partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers, except in the south-west.
The expected UVB sunburn index: Very High

2. MPUMALANGA
Partly cloudy and warm with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers, except in the Lowveld where it will be hot.

3. LIMPOPO
Fine in the west in the morning, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers in the south-central parts.

4. NORTH WEST
Partly cloudy and hot to very hot, with isolated showers and thundershowers in the extreme west.

5. FREE STATE
Partly cloudy and warm to hot, with isolated showers and thundershowers, except in the north-east. It will be scattered in the south.

6. NORTHERN CAPE
Fine over the central parts, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot but very hot in the east where isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers can be expected. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-westerly.

7. WESTERN CAPE
Cloudy and cool in the south-west with isolated showers and rain, otherwise fine warm to hot but very hot in the extreme north-eastern parts. It will become partly cloudy in the extreme east with isolated showers and thundershowers. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong north-westerly, but light to moderate southerly to south-westerly along the south coast in the afternoon.

8. WESTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Partly cloudy and hot with scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated in the south where it will be warm. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-westerly.

9. EASTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Partly cloudy and warm with scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated in the south-west. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong north-easterly.

10. KWAZULU-NATAL
Morning fog patches over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with scattered showers and thundershowers in the west, otherwise isolated except along the coast and adjacent interior. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong easterly to north-easterly.
