Light rain should continue over the eastern provinces on Friday, clearing on Saturday with isolated afternoon thunderstorms returning over the central parts of the country.

Light showers and rain should be expected over central, extreme eastern and south western parts of the country on Saturday otherwise isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers can be expected on Sunday.

Warnings from the SA Weather Service for Friday:

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected in the northern parts of North Cape and the northern parts of Free State.

Warnings from the SA Weather Service for Saturday:

A. level 4 warning for damaging winds between Port Edward and Cape Vidal with winds from 50-70km/h and gusting at 80-90km/h, as per the maps below.

B. level 2 warning for damaging winds and waves between Algoa Bay and Port Edward with near gale to gale force winds over the ocean and swell up to 5.5m, as per the maps below.

C. level 2 warning for damaging interior winds over parts of the Northern Cape and Free State, as per the maps below.

GAUTENG
Partly cloudy and warm.

MPUMALANGA
Morning fog patches along the escarpment, otherwise cloudy and cold to cool with drizzle and rain in the east. It will be partly cloudy in the west.

LIMPOPO
Morning fog patch along the escarpment, otherwise cloudy and cool to warm with drizzle and rain in the east. It will be partly cloudy in the west.

NORTH-WEST
Partly cloudy in the extreme east, otherwise fine, windy, and warm to hot.

THE FREE STATE
Partly cloudy and windy in the east, where isolated showers and morning fog patches are expected, otherwise fine and cool to warm. It will be cold in the extreme east.

THE NORTHERN CAPE
Fine and warm to hot, but partly cloudy and cool in the south-east. It will be windy in the central parts. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-easterly, becoming north to north-westerly towards the evening.

THE WESTERN CAPE
Fine and hot in the west, otherwise partly cloudy and warm, but cool in places along the coast. The wind along the coast will be moderate easterly, but fresh south-easterly along the south-west.

THE WESTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Partly cloudy and cool. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong Easterly.

THE EASTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Cloudy and cold to cool with isolated showers of rain south of the escarpment, otherwise fine. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-easterly, turning easterly to north-easterly.

KWAZULU-NATAL
Morning fog patches, otherwise cloudy and cold to cool with isolated showers and rain. The wind along the coast will be moderate southerly to south-easterly becoming north-easterly from the south by the evening.
