From Monday it should be partly cloudy over the central and eastern parts of the country with isolated showers and thundershowers possible by the afternoon.

Extremely hot conditions, with daytime temperatures reaching 40°C and above, are expected in parts of the Kamiesberg Municipality of the Northern Cape and the interior of the West Coast District of the Western Cape.

Hot to very hot and uncomfortable conditions, with daytime temperatures in the mid to high 30s, are expected in places over the interior of the Western Cape and the Namakwa District of the Northern Cape.

Warnings from the SA Weather Service for Monday:

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected in places over the Northern Cape, the northern parts of the Western Cape as well as in places over the interior of the Eastern Cape.

GAUTENG
Partly cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers by the afternoon.

MPUMALANGA
Morning fog over the highveld and escarpment, otherwise cloudy and cool with isolated showers and thundershowers. It will be warm in places in the Lowveld.

LIMPOPO
Morning fog along the escarpment, otherwise cloudy and cool with isolated showers and thundershowers.

NORTH WEST
Cloudy in the morning, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers.

THE FREE STATE
Cloudy with morning fog in the extreme east, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers.

THE NORTHERN CAPE
Fine and cool in the west, otherwise partly cloudy and warm but over hot in the south, with isolated showers and thundershowers in the north-east. The wind along the coast will be strong southerly to south-easterly.

THE WESTERN CAPE
Hot over the interior of the West Coast District, otherwise fine and warm to hot but very hot in places over the interior. The wind along the coast will be strong southerly to south-easterly but light to moderate in the south.

THE WESTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Fine and warm, but hot over the interior. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate easterly.

THE EASTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Fine and warm, but hot over the interior. The wind along the coast will be moderate north-easterly.

KWAZULU-NATAL
Morning fog patches in places over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and rain in the northern and north-western parts. It will become fine from late afternoon. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate easterly to south-easterly in the north at first, otherwise moderate to fresh northerly to north-easterly but strong in places from the afternoon.
