TUESDAY WEATHER: Hot in the interior but a cut-off low should bring rain to the Western Cape over the next few days

There is a good chance of some very welcome rainfall along the south coast from Tuesday, and from Wednesday it becomes an 80% chance of widespread showers roughly between Arniston and Tsitsikamma, extending inland to Prince Albert as per the map above.
A heat wave with persistently high temperatures is expected in places over Chris Hani, Joe Gqabi and northern parts of Alfred Nzo Districts Municipalities in the Eastern Cape, until Wednesday.
Very hot to extremely hot conditions are expected in places over the Nama-Khoi Local Municipality in the Northern Cape, as well as the Beaufort West Local Municipality in the Western Cape.
From Wednesday it should be partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers possible over the central and eastern parts of the country, but widespread over the Western Cape.
Warnings from the SA Weather Service for Tuesday:
A. level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms resulting in heavy downpours leading to localised flooding of susceptible roads, low-lying areas and bridges, large amounts of small hail, strong damaging winds, and excessive lightning over the western and central parts of Limpopo, as well as the northern Highveld and escarpment of Mpumalanga.
B. level 1 warning for severe thunderstorms resulting in localised flooding of low-lying areas, damage to property and disruption to power supply and or communication in places over Inxuba Yethemba and Enoch Mgijima Local Municipalities of the Eastern Cape.
Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the northern parts of the Northern Cape and Lekwa-Teemane Local Municipality of the North West.

Cloudy with light rain over the southern parts, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot but very hot in the north-eastern parts where isolated showers and thundershowers are expected from the afternoon. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate southerly to south-easterly, but fresh along the west coast.

Partly cloudy and warm with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers over the interior. It will become cloudy along the coast with evening rain and drizzle. The wind along the coast will be moderate easterly to south-easterly.
