FRIDAY WEATHER: Widespread rainfall in the west and a disruptive rainfall warning

A heat wave with persistently high temperatures can be expected in places over most parts of the Eastern Cape, except in the extreme north, according to the SA Weather Service.

Fog patches can be expected over some parts of the country.

Warnings from the SA Weather Service for Friday:

A. level 1 warning for disruptive rain resulting in localised flooding of susceptible roads, bridges and settlements over the Namakwa District of the Northern Cape and in places over the interior of Western Cape including the City of Cape Town.

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the Dawid Kruiper and Ubuntu local municipality of the Northern Cape.

GAUTENG
Partly cloudy and warm.

MPUMALANGA
Partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and rain in the north-east.

LIMPOPO
Partly cloudy in the west, otherwise cloudy and warm with isolated showers and rain.

NORTH WEST
Partly cloudy and warm.

THE FREE STATE
Partly cloudy and warm.

THE NORTHERN CAPE
Cloudy and cool in the south-west with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers, but widespread over the adjacent interior of the coast, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate southerly to south-westerly.

THE WESTERN CAPE
Warm in the extreme north-east and along the northern parts of the West Coast, otherwise cloudy and cool with scattered to widespread showers and thundershowers, clearing from the west in the afternoon. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate north-westerly along the south-west coast in the morning, otherwise light to moderate south-westerly.

THE WESTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Morning fog in places, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered in the west where it will become cloudy from the afternoon. The wind along the coast will be light and variable in places, otherwise moderate to fresh south-westerly, but north-easterly east of Cannon Rocks.

THE EASTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Morning fog in places south of the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated thunderstorms in the west. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong north-easterly.

KWAZULU-NATAL
Morning fog over the interior, otherwise fine and warm becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon with isolated showers and rain in the north-east. The wind along the coast will be light easterly north of Cape St. Lucia in the morning, otherwise moderate to fresh north-easterly, becoming strong in the afternoon in the south.
