Morning fog is likely in places in the east of the country on Thursday.

Hot and humid weather can be expected over the central and eastern parts of KwaZulu-Natal.

Warnings from the SA Weather Service for Thursday:

A. level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms with localised flooding of susceptible roads, low-lying areas and bridges, large amounts of small hail, and localised damage to infrastructure due to damaging winds expected over the Free State, North West and Gauteng as well as parts of the Northern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo and Mpumalanga as per the updated map above.

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected in places of the Northern Cape as well as the Drakenstein Municipality of the Western Cape.

GAUTENG
Hot in the extreme north, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with scattered afternoon.

MPUMALANGA
Cloudy at first with early morning fog patches on the Lowveld and the escarpment areas, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with scattered afternoon thundershowers in the west, otherwise isolated, except over the Lowveld where it will be hot to very hot in places.

LIMPOPO
Early morning fog patches along the escarpment, but partly cloudy and warm to hot with scattered afternoon thundershowers in the extreme south-west, otherwise isolated, except in the east where it will be very hot in places.

NORTH WEST
Partly cloudy and hot becoming cloudy in the afternoon with scattered thundershowers, but isolated in the west.

THE FREE STATE
Morning fog patches over the eastern parts, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot, with scattered afternoon thundershowers, but isolated in the west.

6. EASTERN PARTS OF THE NORTHERN CAPE
Fine in the west where it will be warm, otherwise partly cloudy and hot to very hot with isolated afternoon thundershowers in the east and central. The wind along the coast will be fresh south-easterly.

THE WESTERN CAPE
Fine and warm to hot but cloudy over the eastern interior and south coast at first where it will become partly cloudy. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh east to south-easterly but strong in the south-west.

THE WESTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Cloudy and warm to cool with a chance of morning light rain in places in the south, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated afternoon thundershowers in the north. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate south-easterly.

THE EASTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Cloudy and cool to warm with scattered showers and thundershowers. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate southerly.

KWAZULU-NATAL
Morning fog patches over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot. Scattered afternoon thundershowers are expected in the west, otherwise isolated except in the extreme north-east. The wind along the coast will be light easterly.
