Hot and humid weather can be expected over the north-eastern parts of KwaZulu-Natal on Thursday.

Fog patches can be expected in the morning in a number of regions across the country.

Warnings from the SA Weather Service for Thursday:

A. level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms associated with heavy downpours that may result in localised flooding of low-lying areas, susceptible roads and bridges as well as localised damage to infrastructure, settlements (informal), property, vehicles, livelihood and livestock are expected over the western parts of KwaZulu-Natal, eastern and central parts of the Northern Cape as well as the southern parts of Free State.

GAUTENG
Morning fog patches in the extreme east, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers.

MPUMALANGA
Cloudy with morning fog in places over the Highveld and escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and warm but hot in the Lowveld with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers, but scattered along the escarpment.

LIMPOPO
Cloudy with morning fog along the southern escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers in the central and southern parts.

NORTH WEST
Partly cloudy and warm with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the south-west.

THE FREE STATE
Partly cloudy and warm with scattered afternoon showers and thundershowers, but isolated in the north.

THE NORTHERN CAPE
Fine and warm to hot becoming partly cloudy with scattered afternoon showers and thundershowers in the eastern parts but isolated in central parts. The wind along the coast will be moderate north-westerly, becoming moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly in the afternoon.

THE WESTERN CAPE
Partly cloudy and hot over the north-eastern parts with afternoon isolated showers and thundershowers over the Beaufort West municipality, otherwise fine and hot but partly cloudy and warm to hot over the south-western and southern parts. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-westerly to westerly in the south-west by morning, otherwise moderate southerly to south-westerly.

THE WESTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Morning fog in places, south of escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers in places over the northern and eastern parts. The wind along the coast will be light south-westerly, becoming south-easterly from by afternoon.

THE EASTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Morning fog in the south of escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm with scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated along the east coast. The wind along the coast will be light south-westerly, becoming easterly from afternoon.

KWAZULU-NATAL
Morning fog patches over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers but scattered in the west. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate southerly to south-westerly south of Mandeni, otherwise northerly to north-westerly.
