Very cold conditions are expected over the north-eastern interior of the Eastern Cape until Sunday, according to the SA Weather Services.

From Saturday it should be fine over the central and the western interior, otherwise partly cloudy and cold to cool with isolated showers and rain in the east and south.

On Sunday it should be partly cloudy and cold to cool with isolated showers and rain in the eastern and southern parts of the country. Light snowfall is possible over the mountain peaks of the Eastern Cape. Isolated showers and rain are expected in the north-western parts of South Africa on Monday.

Warnings from the SA Weather Service for Saturday:

A. level 2 warning for damaging waves leading to difficulty in navigation, localised disruption of harbours/ports and localised disruptions to beachfront activities between Port Alfred and Richard's Bay.

B. level 2 warning for damaging winds between Port Alfred and Port Edward, as per the map above.

C. level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms over parts of Mpumalanga and Limpopo, as per the map above.

1. GAUTENG
Partly cloudy and cool with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers.
The expected UVB sunburn index: High

2. MPUMALANGA
Morning fog patches over the southern highveld, otherwise partly cloudy and cold to cool with isolated showers and thundershowers but warm in places in the lowveld.

3. LIMPOPO
Partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers.

4. NORTH WEST
Fine to partly cloudy and cool, with isolated showers and thundershowers in the east.

5. FREE STATE
Morning fog patches over the eastern interior, otherwise partly cloudy and cold to cool, with isolated showers and thundershowers in the east.

6. NORTHERN CAPE
Fine and cool but cold in the south. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-easterly becoming strong in the north from the afternoon.

7. WESTERN CAPE
Cloudy and cool to cold with light rain over the extreme south-eastern parts, but partly cloudy in the north. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong southerly to south-easterly, but light to moderate south-westerly along the south coast.

8. WESTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Partly cloudy and cold to very cold with isolated showers and rain in the south, but scattered along the coast and adjacent interior. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong south-westerly.

9. EASTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Partly cloudy and cold to very cold, becoming cloudy with isolated showers and rain over the south-eastern parts by the evening. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong south-westerly.

10. KWAZULU-NATAL
Partly cloudy and cool but warm in the extreme north-east, with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers except in the extreme south. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate to fresh south-westerly to southerly.
