A heat wave until Monday but no weather warnings for Friday so far

A heat wave with persistently hot temperatures is expected in places in the northern parts of the Eastern Cape until Monday, according to the SA Weather Service.

Extremely uncomfortable conditions are expected in places over the north-western parts of the Eastern Cape.

From Saturday isolated showers and thundershowers are expected over the central and eastern areas of the country.

Warnings from the SA Weather Service for Friday:

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected in places over the central parts of the Northern Cape and Free State.

1. GAUTENG
Partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers.
The expected UVB sunburn index: Extreme

2. MPUMALANGA
Partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers except in the Lowveld.

3. LIMPOPO
Partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers except in the Lowveld.

4. NORTH WEST
Partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers in the eastern parts.

5. FREE STATE
Partly cloudy, windy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers in the eastern parts.

6. NORTHERN CAPE
Morning fog patches in the west, otherwise fine and hot to very hot, but partly cloudy and windy in the east. It will become cloudy in the western parts from the evening. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong southerly.

7. WESTERN CAPE
Morning fog patches in the west, otherwise fine and warm to hot but partly cloudy along the south coast and its adjacent interior. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh westerly to south-westerly.

8. WESTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Partly cloudy along the coast, otherwise fine and warm to hot. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-westerly, becoming light north-westerly in places in the evening.

9. EASTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Cloudy along the coast with isolated light rain, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers, except in the north-west. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-westerly.

10. KWAZULU-NATAL
Morning fog patches in places, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh easterly to north-easterly but south-easterly in the south.
