More rainfall, thunderstorms on Monday and warnings for damaging winds and waves

A cold front is passing through the country and resulting in strong to gale force westerly/south-westerly winds of 60 - 70km/h along the Eastern Cape coast and adjacent interior, while a strong westerly/south-westerly gale wind of 70 - 80km/h is expected over the ocean.

These winds will be accompanied by gusts of about 85 - 95km/h, moderating from the evening.

A. level 2 warning for damaging waves as per the updated map above.

B. level 2 warning for damaging winds as per the updated map above.

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected in places over the Highveld of Mpumalanga, extreme eastern parts of KwaZulu Natal as well as the southern parts of both Gauteng and Limpopo.

Fine and warm but hot in the extreme north.

THE FREE STATE
Partly cloudy, wind and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers in the south.

THE NORTHERN CAPE
Fine in the west, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers in the east. The wind along the coast will be moderate southerly to south-easterly becoming moderate to fresh southerly to south-westerly from the afternoon.

THE WESTERN CAPE
Partly cloudy and cool with isolated to scattered showers and rain over the western and southern parts in the morning. It will become fine from the evening. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-westerly to westerly but strong along the south coast in the early morning. It will become moderate south-easterly along the west coast from the evening.

THE WESTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Partly cloudy, windy and cool with isolated showers and thundershowers in the south and east. It will become fine from late afternoon. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-easterly east of Algoa Bay early morning, otherwise fresh to strong south-westerly, reaching gale force until the evening.

THE EASTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Partly cloudy, windy and cool with isolated showers and thundershowers, but warm in places south of the escarpment. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-easterly in places in the morning, otherwise fresh to strong south-westerly, reaching gale force in places in the south from the afternoon.

KWAZULU-NATAL
Morning fog over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-easterly, becoming fresh to strong south-westerly to southerly from the south from mid morning, spreading northwards in the afternoon.
