Very cold conditions are expected over the extreme south-western parts of KwaZulu-Natal on Tuesday, according to the SA Weather Service.

From Wednesday it should be cloudy and cold to cool conditions, with isolated showers and thundershowers expected over the central and eastern parts of the country.

Warnings from the SA Weather Service for Tuesday:

A. level 2 warning for disruptive rainfall as per the map above.

B. level 1 warning for severe thunderstorms resulting in localised damage to property and vehicles as well as localised disruptions due to large amounts of small hail in the north-eastern parts of the Eastern Cape.

Regional forecasts from the SA Weather Service for Tuesday:

1. GAUTENG
Partly cloudy and cool to cold.
The expected UVB sunburn index: Low

2. MPUMALANGA
Morning fog patches along the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and cool but cold in places. It will become cloudy in the afternoon with drizzle in the east.

3. LIMPOPO
Partly cloudy and cool but warm in places. It will become cloudy in the afternoon with drizzle in the Lowveld.

4. NORTH-WEST PROVINCE
Partly cloudy and cool with isolated showers and thundershowers in the west.

5. FREE STATE
Partly cloudy and cold to cool with isolated thundershowers, except in the northeast.

6. NORTHERN CAPE
Morning fog patches in the west, where it will be fine, otherwise partly cloudy and cold to cool with isolated showers and thundershowers in the east but scattered in the south-east. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-easterly.

7. WESTERN CAPE
Morning fog patches in the north-west, otherwise partly cloudy and cold to cool but fine in the extreme west. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-easterly to easterly but strong along the south-west coast. It will be light and variable along the south coast in the early morning.

8. WESTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Cloudy and cold to cool with isolated showers and rain in places in the south and east in the morning, becoming partly cloudy in the evening. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate easterly but north-easterly in places.

9. EASTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Cloudy and cold to cool with scattered showers and thundershowers, but widespread along the Wild Coast and adjacent interior. Snowfalls can be expected in places over the north-eastern high ground/mountains. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-westerly becoming light to moderate south-easterly from the west.

10. KWAZULU-NATAL
Morning fog patches over the southern interior, otherwise cloudy and very cold to cold but cool over the eastern parts with scattered showers and rain. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south-westerly becoming easterly to south-easterly by the afternoon.
