A dominant high-pressure system will result in fine and warm to hot conditions over the north-eastern provinces until at least Tuesday next week, but it will be cool to cold in the rest of the country with possible snowfall this weekend. Warnings from the SA Weather Service for Friday: A. level 2 warning for damaging waves leading to possible localised damage to coastal infrastructure is expected between Lambert's Bay and Plettenberg Bay, spreading to Alexander Bay by Saturday evening and persisting on Sunday. B. level 1 warning for damaging interior wind over parts of KwaZUlu-Natal and the Free State as per the map above. Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the extreme north-eastern parts of the Northern Cape, in places in the North West, north-eastern and central parts of the Free State, the north-eastern part of the Eastern Cape, northern parts of KwaZulu-Natal in places in Limpopo, as well as in places in Mpumalanga. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate northerly to north-easterly, becoming moderate south-westerly from the afternoon. THE WESTERN CAPE Partly cloudy and cool to cold, with isolated showers and rain over the western and south-western parts. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong westerly to north-westerly, reaching gale along the south-west coast in the evening.
