FRIDAY WEATHER: Cool in the west while hot and humid in KZN and a thunderstorm warning for seven provinces

Hot and humid weather can be expected over the eastern parts of KwaZulu-Natal on Friday.

Morning fog can be expected in places in the eastern part of the country.

Warnings from the SA Weather Service for Friday:

A. level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms with heavy downpours leading to localised flooding of low-lying areas, susceptible roads and bridges as well as large amounts of small hail and strong damaging winds leading to localised damage of infrastructure, settlements, vehicles and livestock over parts of the Northern Cape, Eastern Cape, Free State, KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumlanga, Gauteng and Limpopo as per the updated map.

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the Umsobomvu local municipality in the Northern Cape as well as the Walter Sisulu and Makana local municipalities in the Eastern Cape.

GAUTENG
Partly cloudy and warm with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers. It will be hot in the extreme north.

MPUMALANGA
Morning fog patches along the escarpment and northern Highveld, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers. It will be hot in places in the Lowveld.

LIMPOPO
Morning fog patches along the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers.

NORTH-WEST
Partly cloudy and warm, with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered over the extreme southwestern parts.

THE FREE STATE
Partly cloudy and cool to warm, with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered over the western parts.

THE NORTHERN CAPE
Partly cloudy, windy and cool to warm with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers over the eastern parts. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-westerly.

THE WESTERN CAPE
Partly cloudy and cool with isolated to scattered showers and rain over the southern parts. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate south-westerly to westerly becoming southerly to south-easterly from the evening but fresh to strong south-westerly to westerly along the south coast.

THE EASTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Partly cloudy with scattered showers and thundershowers. The wind along the coast will be moderate south-westerly becoming strong in the afternoon.

KWAZULU-NATAL
Morning fog patches, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot but very hot in places in the east. Isolated showers and thundershowers are expected, except in the extreme north-east. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate northerly to north-easterly, becoming moderate to fresh southerly to south-westerly in the south in the evening.
