Isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers are expected over the central and western parts of South Africa on Thursday, spreading to the east on Friday. The public and small stock farmers are advised that very cold, wet and windy conditions are expected over the western and central interior of the Western Cape as well as over the southern parts of Namakwa (Northern Cape) from Thursday, spreading to the eastern interior of the Western Cape from Friday, while to the western escarpment of Namakwa on Saturday into Sunday. ALSO READ: More snowfall possible due to cold fronts and cut-off low, incuding Johannesburg and eight SA provinces. Warnings from the SA Weather Service for Wednesday: A. level 1 warning for damaging wind leading to localised damage to settlements (formal and informal) as well as risk of localised runaway fires over the western interior of the Northern Cape. Regional forecasts from the SA Weather Service for Wednesday: 1. GAUTENG Fine and cool to cold, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon. The expected UVB sunburn index: High 2. MPUMALANGA Warm in the Lowveld, otherwise fine and cool, becoming partly cloudy in the south-west. 3. LIMPOPO Partly cloudy in the west and central parts, otherwise fine and cool, but warm in the Lowveld. 4. NORTH-WEST Partly cloudy, windy and cool to warm. 5. FREE STATE Windy over the southern and western parts, otherwise partly cloudy and cool. 6. NORTHERN CAPE Partly cloudy along the coast with isolated showers, otherwise fine and cool to warm, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon with isolated showers and thundershowers over the central and southern parts. The wind along the coast will be light and variable. 7. WESTERN CAPE Cloudy along the coast with isolated to scattered rain showers along the west and south-west coast, otherwise fine and cool at first becoming cloudy with isolated thundershowers in the east. The wind along the coast will be light and variable. The expected UVB sunburn index: Low 8. WESTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE Partly cloudy along the coast, otherwise fine and cool to warm, becoming cloudy with isolated evening showers and thundershowers in the west. The wind along the coast will be light and variable, becoming moderate to fresh south-easterly in the afternoon. 9. EASTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE Fine and cool to warm, but cold in the north. The wind along the coast will be light north-westerly, becoming moderate north-easterly late morning. 10. KWAZULU-NATAL Morning fog patches in the extreme north, otherwise fine and cool but warm in the north-east. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh northerly to north-easterly but light north-westerly in the extreme south at first.
