TUESDAY WEATHER: Severe thunderstorm warnings for four provinces and rain possible in most of the country

A heat wave with persistently high temperatures is expected in places over Dr Beyers Naude local municipality, Blue Crane Route local municipality, Sundays River Valley local municipality, Makana local municipality, Amathole district municipality, Sakhisizwe local municipality, Dr AB Xuma local municipality, Sakhisizwe local municipality, Elundini local municipality, OR Tambo district municipality and Alfred Nzo district municipality will continue into Wednesday.

Morning fog can be expected in some parts of the country on Tuesday.

Warnings from the SA Weather Service for Tuesday:

A. level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms resulting in localised flooding of susceptible roads, low-lying areas and bridges, large amounts of small hail, and localised damage to infrastructure due to damaging winds over the Northern Cape except the northern parts and the extreme western parts of the North West as well as the extreme north-eastern parts of the Western Cape.

B. level 1 warning for severe thunderstorms resulting in localised flooding and localised damage to property over the western parts of the Eastern Cape.

GAUTENG
Partly cloudy and warm with scattered showers and thundershowers.

MPUMALANGA
Morning fog patches over the central and western parts with light rain in the east, otherwise cloudy and cool to warm with scattered showers and thundershowers but isolated in the south.

LIMPOPO
Morning fog patches in the south-west with rain and showers over the eastern parts, otherwise cloudy and cool to warm with scattered showers and thundershowers.

NORTH-WEST
Partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered in the extreme east.

THE FREE STATE
Partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers.

THE NORTHERN CAPE
Cloudy with morning fog along the coast, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered in the southeast. The wind along the coast will be light and variable.

THE WESTERN CAPE
Cloudy to partly cloudy and warm to hot but cool in places over the Cape Peninsula and western parts of the Overberg district, with isolated showers and rain over the south and south-western parts, but isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers over the central, eastern and southern parts from the afternoon. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate northerly to north-westerly along the west coast, otherwise moderate to fresh easterly to south-easterly, reaching strong along the south-west coast at times.

THE WESTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Cloudy and warm along the coast with light morning rain and isolated showers and thundershowers in the evening, otherwise partly cloudy and hot to very hot with scattered showers and thundershowers. The wind along the coast will be Light to moderate south-westerly east Cape St Francis early morning, otherwise moderate to fresh easterly, becoming north-easterly in the east.

THE EASTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Cloudy along the coast in the morning, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers in the north and west. The wind along the coast will be light westerly at first, otherwise moderate to fresh easterly, becoming north-easterly in the evening.

KWAZULU-NATAL
Morning fog patches over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers. The wind along the coast will be light south-westerly in the extreme north until late morning, otherwise light to moderate northerly to north-easterly.
