A heat wave with persistently high temperatures is expected over the Richtersveld Municipality of the Northern Cape on Friday, according to the SA Weather Service (SAWS).

It should be partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers over the south east coast on Sunday.

A well-developed cold front is expected to affect the Western Cape and the Namakwa District (Northern Cape) from Tuesday to Wednesday, according to the SA Weather Service. The public and small stock farmers are advised that very cold conditions, heavy rainfall, snowfalls, strong to gale force winds, and very rough seas can be expected.

Warnings from SAWS for Friday:

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over Beaufort West and Laingsburg municipalities in the Western Cape.

1. GAUTENG
Early morning fog in places, otherwise partly cloudy and cool.
The expected UVB sunburn index: Moderate

2. MPUMALANGA
Morning fog over the Highveld and escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and cool but warm in the Lowveld.

3. LIMPOPO
Partly cloudy and cool to warm, but cloudy in the north with isolated showers and rain in the north-east.

4. NORTH-WEST PROVINCE
Partly cloudy in the east, otherwise fine and cool.

5. FREE STATE
Partly cloudy in the east, otherwise fine and cool.

6. NORTHERN CAPE
Fine and cool to warm but hot to very hot in the extreme western parts. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate north-easterly, becoming south-easterly from the evening.

7. WESTERN CAPE
Morning fog in places in the south and again in the south-west from the evening, otherwise fine and warm to hot but partly cloudy along the south-coastline. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-easterly, reaching strong in places along the west and south coast in the morning, otherwise light to moderate easterly. It will become moderate to fresh southerly along the south-west and the south-coast from the evening.

Fine and warm. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate north-easterly.

Morning fog patches over the northern interior, otherwise partly cloudy and cool but warm in the east. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh northerly to north-easterly.
