Rain on the coast and a warning about flooding for Limpopo on Tuesday

Cool to warm, but hot over the central and south-western interior.

Isolated showers and thundershowers are expected over the central and eastern areas of the country as well as along the south coast, but scattered over the northern parts of Limpopo as well as the southern parts of the Western Cape.

Disruptive rain leading to flooding can be expected over the northern parts of Limpopo, according to the SA Weather Service (SAWS), and a warning was added on Tuesday morning for this.

After that isolated showers and thundershowers are expected over the central and eastern areas of the country, but scattered over the northern parts of Limpopo as well as the eastern half of the Eastern Cape on Wednesday.

Warnings from the SA Weather Service for Tuesday:

A. yellow level 2 warning for disruptive rain across the northern parts of Limpopo.

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the Northern Cape except in the extreme west, eastern parts of the Western Cape, western parts of Eastern Cape and Free State as well as the south-western parts of North West.

Regional forecasts from SAWS for Tuesday:

1. GAUTENG
Partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers.
The expected UVB sunburn index: Low

2. MPUMALANGA
Cloudy in the morning, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers.

3. LIMPOPO
Cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered in the north. It will become partly cloudy in the south-east by the afternoon.

4. NORTH WEST
Partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers.

5. FREE STATE
Partly cloudy, windy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers except in the extreme west.

6. NORTHERN CAPE
Fine over the central parts otherwise partly cloudy, windy and hot to very hot but cool to warm in the extreme west. The wind along the coast will be Fresh southerly.

7. WESTERN CAPE
Fine in the north-east otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and rain but scattered along the south coast. It will be hot in the east. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong south-westerly to westerly becoming strong north-westerly along the south-western coast late afternoon spreading to south-coast where it will be very windy overnight.

8. WESTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers of rain in the south. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong westerly to south-westerly.

9. EASTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and rain south of the escarpment where morning fog is expected. The wind along the coast will be light north-easterly, becoming moderate to fresh south-westerly from late morning.

10. KWAZULU-NATAL
Partly cloudy and warm to hot, with isolated showers and thundershowers in the south.The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong northerly to north-easterly.
