Strong to near-gale-force northerly to north-easterly winds of 40-50km/h, with gusts reaching 60-80 km/h, are expected over the Namakwa District, including the northern parts of the West Coast District, and the Witzenberg Municipality (Western Cape) today. The windy conditions are expected to persist over the Hantam and Karoo Hoogland municipalities (Northern Cape) until Friday evening.
Warnings from the SA Weather Service:
A. level 2 warning for damaging interior winds leading to localised damage to temporary structures and reduced visibility due to blowing dust are expected over the Hantam and Karoo Hoogland municipalities.
Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over Hantam and Nama-Khoi (Northern Cape), Cederberg and Matzikama municipalities (Western Cape), Hantam (Northern Cape) and Laingsburg (Western Cape) municipalities.
