Four warnings for severe thunderstorms, disruptive rain and flooding on Tuesday

Warnings from the SA Weather Service (SAWS) for Tuesday:

A. yellow level 4 warning for severe thunderstorms resulting in flooding of roads, damage to property and infrastructure due to strong winds and hail are expected over the western parts of KwaZulu-Natal in the morning.

B. yellow level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms leading to localised flooding of susceptible roads, low-lying areas and bridges as well as the large amounts of small hail over an open area are expected over the central and the eastern parts of both North-West and Free State tomorrow.

C. yellow level 4 warning for disruptive rain resulting in localised flooding of susceptible roads and bridges, settlements and low-lying areas due to heavy downpours is expected over the northern and eastern parts of Mpumalanga as well as in places over Limpopo, except in the extreme south-west and north-west.

D. yellow level 2 warning for disruptive rain resulting in localised flooding of susceptible roads and bridges, settlements and low-lying areas due to heavy downpours is expected over Gauteng, southern parts of Mpumalanga as well as the extreme south-west and north-western parts of Limpopo.

Warnings from the SA Weather Service (SAWS) for Wednesday & Thursday:

yellow level 1 warning for disruptive rain between Alexander Bay and Cape Point.

Regional forecasts from SAWS for Tuesday:

1. GAUTENG
Cloudy and cool to warm with scattered showers and thundershowers. The expected UVB sunburn index: Low

2. MPUMALANGA
Morning fog along the escarpment, otherwise cloudy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers but widespread in the north-east.

3. LIMPOPO
Morning fog along the escarpment, otherwise cloudy and cool to warm with scattered showers and thundershowers but widespread in the north and east.

4. NORTH-WEST PROVINCE
Morning fog patches in places at first, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers, but fine over the north-western parts.

5. FREE STATE
Partly cloudy and warm with scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated in the east where morning fog patches is expected.

6. NORTHERN CAPE
Fine and cool to warm but partly cloudy over the extreme eastern parts. The wind along the coast will be light and variable, becoming moderate to fresh south-westerly to southerly from the afternoon.

7. WESTERN CAPE
Fine and cool to warm becoming partly cloudy along the south coast from the afternoon.

The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh easterly along the south coast at first, otherwise moderate to fresh southerly to south-westerly reaching strong along the west coast. The expected UVB sunburn index: Extreme

8. WESTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Morning fog in places over the interior, otherwise fine and warm. It will become cloudy along the coast and adjacent interior from late afternoon. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate north-easterly, reaching fresh east of Algoa Bay. It will become moderate to fresh south-westerly from late morning, reaching strong in places.

9. EASTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Cloudy with a chance of drizzle and fog in places south of the escarpment in the morning, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate north-easterly, reaching fresh to strong in places in the afternoon.

10. KWAZULU-NATAL
Morning fog in places over the interior, otherwise cloudy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers. The wind along the coast will be moderate easterly to south-easterly in the north, otherwise moderate to fresh north-easterly. The expected UVB sunburn index: Low
