Very cold, wet and windy conditions are expected over the southern parts of the Namakwa district of the Northern Cape, as well as the Witzenberg and Breede Valley municipalities, and the Koue Bokkeveld of the Western Cape on Friday according the SA Weather Service.

Warnings from the SA Weather Service for Friday:

A. level 2 warning for damaging waves resulting in difficulty in navigation at sea and small vessels are at risk of taking on water and capsizing between Hondeklip Bay and Plettenberg Bay until Saturday afternoon.

B. level 1 warning for damaging waves and winds resulting in difficulty in navigation, small vessels are at risk of taking on water and localised disruption to ports/harbours between Plettenberg Bay and Hamburg until Saturday.

Regional forecasts from the SA Weather Service for Friday:

1. GAUTENG
Fine and cool, but cold in places.
The expected UVB sunburn index: Moderate

2. MPUMALANGA
Fine and cool to warm.

3. LIMPOPO
Fine and cool, but warm in places in the Lowveld and Limpopo Valley.

4. NORTH WEST
Fine and cool.

5. FREE STATE
Fine and cool to cold, becoming partly cloudy and windy in the extreme east.

6. NORTHERN CAPE
Partly cloudy, windy and cool to cold, but fine and warm in the north. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate south to south-westerly.

7. WESTERN CAPE
Cloudy with scattered showers and in the south-west, otherwise partly cloudy and cold with isolated showers and rain. No rainfall is expected in the north-east. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-westerly to westerly but strong along the south-west coast. It will become fresh to strong south-westerly from the afternoon.

8. WESTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Morning fog in places in the south, otherwise partly cloudy, windy and cool to cold, with isolated showers and rain in the south. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong south-westerly.

9. EASTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Partly cloudy and cool to warm, with isolated showers and rain south of the escarpment. It will be windy in the north. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong south-westerly.

10. KWAZULU-NATAL
Fine and cool to warm, but partly cloudy in the south. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong northerly to north-easterly.
