From Thursday it should be partly cloudy and warm to cool with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers possible over the central and eastern parts of South Africa. A high fire danger is indicated for much of the Northern Cape on Thursday, as well as parts of the Western Cape, Eastern Cape and the western part of the Free State. Warnings from the SA Weather Service for Thursday: A. level 2 warning severe thunderstorms leading to localised flooding of susceptible roads, settlements and low-lying bridges/areas in places over the central and eastern parts of the Northern Cape as well as the western parts of Free State these conditions are expected to include excessive lightning and large amounts of small hail and/or large hail. B. level 2 warning damaging waves and winds leading to localised difficulty in navigation of small boats with a risk of some vessels taking on water and capsizing within locality along the coast between Hamburg and Port Edward (not marked on the map). C. level 2 warning damaging winds over parts of the Eastern Cape, as per the map above. Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over most of the Northern Cape and in places over the western parts of the Free State, northern parts of the Western Cape, as well as the western parts of the Eastern Cape. MPUMALANGA Morning fog patches expected over the Highveld, otherwise partly cloudy to cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers from the afternoon. LIMPOPO Morning fog patches over the central part, otherwise cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers. NORTH-WEST Cloudy in the east, otherwise partly cloudy, windy and warm to hot with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers. THE FREE STATE Partly cloudy, windy and warm to hot, with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered over the central and southern parts. THE NORTHERN CAPE Fine, windy and warm to hot, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon with scattered showers and thundershowers in central and eastern parts. It will be cool along the coast. The wind along the coast will be light north-westerly becoming moderate westerly in the afternoon. THE WESTERN CAPE Partly cloudy and warm to hot but very hot to extremely hot in places over the interior, mainly the eastern parts. The wind along the coast will be light easterly to south-easterly becoming fresh north-westerly in the west and south-west and south-westerly in the evening, but moderate south-easterly along the south coast. THE WESTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE Warm in places along the coast, otherwise fine and hot to very hot, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-easterly. THE EASTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE Fine and warm to hot, becoming partly cloudy with isolated thundershowers in the north. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong north-easterly. KWAZULU-NATAL Morning fog over the interior, cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate south-easterly to easterly early morning, becoming moderate to fresh north-easterly from the south spreading northwards towards afternoon.
