Warnings from the SA Weather Service for Wednesday:

A. level 2 warning severe thunderstorms leading to localised flooding of susceptible roads, settlements and low-lying bridges/areas, excessive lightning and large amounts of small hail and/or large hail are expected in places over Gauteng, eastern parts of both the Free State and North West, Highveld and escarpment areas of Mpumalanga as well as Limpopo province excluding the Lowveld.

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected in places over the Dikgatlong and Phokwane local municipality of the Northern Cape.

GAUTENG
Partly cloudy and warm with scattered showers and thundershowers.

MPUMALANGA
Cloudy in the east with morning fog patches along the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm with scattered showers and thundershowers from the afternoon.

LIMPOPO
Cloudy in the east with morning fog patches along the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with scattered showers and thundershowers from the afternoon but isolated in the extreme north.

NORTH-WEST
Partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers over the extreme south, otherwise scattered showers and thundershowers.

THE FREE STATE
Partly cloudy and with isolated showers and thundershowers over the central parts, but scattered thundershowers in the east.

THE NORTHERN CAPE
Fine and warm to hot but partly cloudy over the northern parts. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly.

THE WESTERN CAPE
Cloudy and cool along the south coast and adjacent interior with light showers and rain in the south-east coast in the early morning, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot but very hot in places in the west where it will be fine. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong southerly to south-easterly.

THE WESTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Partly cloudy in the north, otherwise cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and rain in the morning. The wind along the coast will be moderate south-easterly, becoming fresh easterly in the afternoon.

THE EASTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Morning fog patches over the interior, otherwise cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and rain, but scattered in the north-east. The wind along the coast will be moderate south-easterly, becoming north-easterly in the afternoon.

KWAZULU-NATAL
Morning fog patches over the interior, otherwise cloudy and cold to cool but warm in the extreme north-east, with scattered showers and thundershowers. The wind along the coast will be fresh southerly to south-easterly.
