More snowfall possible for South Africa and Lesotho from this weekend

More snowfall is possible for parts of South Africa and Lesotho between Friday 22 October and Tuesday 26 October.

Anything from light flurries up to an accumulated 18cm is possible at higher elevations, as per the map. Any snowfall in the other areas marked on the map is likely to be much lighter.

The majority of snow is currently indicated to fall on Friday night and Saturday morning in the Western Cape, with another snowfall possible with heavier snow on Monday night in Lesotho and the Drakensberg.

NO very low-level snow is expected at this stage as the freezing level isn't expected to drop below 2150m in the Western Cape and 3000m in Lesotho. Snow is NOT expected to be far down Sani Pass and may not even fall on the pass at all.

The forecast may still change for the Western Cape this weekend, and will likely still change for the eastern region since it is a more advanced forecast at this point.
