[archive] Snow possible for all provinces in SA, including Johannesburg and Pretoria

Snowfall is currently looking possible across all provinces in South Africa, as well as Namibia, Lesotho and Swaziland from later next week. Johannesburg and Pretoria are also in the snow zone at this point.

At this stage the data suggests anything from very light snowfall or just flurries for some areas, to much heavier snowfall in some parts of the country. The freezing level is looking like it will be very low and hence the extensive possible snowfall. The possible cumulative snow levels have NOT been indicated on the map for now.

The snow is currently indicated between late on Thursday until the early hours of Sunday. As is usually the case the conditions will unfolds in the west first, followed by the rest of the country. Extremely cold temperatures are currently indicated, and very strong wind is indicated for Thursday.

It is important to note that while this is still an advanced forecast, the snow indicated for areas that don't often get anything has been showing up in the data for a number of days now.

This snow forecast map is as always likely to change and will be updated on a regular basis.

The map indicates where SnowReportSA is seeing the possibility of snow, but it may not fall in all of the areas shown on the map. As with any forecast of any kind (temperature, clouds, rain, wind), what eventually happens may or may not be similar to the forecast.
