Snowfall possible for four provinces overnight, with some low-level snow possible.29 August 2022By Staff Writer
Light snowfall is possible for the high ground in parts of the Western Cape, Eastern Cape, Northern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, as well as Lesotho from late on Monday and into Tuesday this week. The data currently suggests that while the freezing level may drop as low as 1400m, mainly light snowfall is possible in places marked on the map except for the higher ground around Hogsback, which may get about 10cm falling overnight. Places that may see snow or flurries around the freezing level include Sutherland, Beaufort West, Graaff-Reinet, Nieu-Bethesda, Willowmore, Uniondale, the Swartberg mountains, and the Eastern Cape interior towns as indicated on the map. In Kwazulu-Natal light snow is possible on the high-ground around Kokstad, Underberg, Himeville, Swartberg and the areas marked on the map. Some low-level snow on mountain passes is possible, although it will most likely fall later on Monday and in the early hours of Tuesday so it may have melted by the morning. The team will be traveling from time-to-time with our new SNOW DOG , highlighting the wonderful dog-friendly places to enjoy a nice getaway for both SnowReport and a new all year round travel channel.
