The first snowfall of the year expected this weekend4 April 2022 [updated 8 April 2022]By Staff Writer
While there has been the expected reduction from the advanced forecast, at this point the data is indicating that over 20cm of snow is still possible in some areas between Saturday and Monday. NO very low-level snow is expected as the freezing level is over 3000m. Snow is NOT expected to be far down Sani Pass and may not even fall on the pass at all. The snowfall is likely to begin late on Saturday evening and should be visible by Sunday morning, with more snow expected to fall during the day. The high roads in the east of Lesotho are likely to be the only place where snow can be accessed with a normal vehicle, but it should be visible on the peaks from many lower-lying areas in South Africa. The map indicates where SnowReportSA is seeing the possibility of snow, but it may not fall in all of the areas shown on the map. As with any forecast of any kind (temperature, clouds, rain, wind), what eventually happens may or may not be similar to the forecast.
