There have been some quite substantial changes to the snow that we were expecting, and it is still likely that we will see further changes as the week progresses. Currently, the weather data is painting the following picture for us:
Western Cape : Tomorrow morning (Tuesday), we are expecting very light snow in the western parts, including the high peaks of the Cedarberg and Hexriver Mountains.
Northern Cape : No snow expected, but cooler weather is on the way.
Eastern Cape : No snow expected, but with freezing levels dropping as low as 2000m on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, cooler weather can be expected.
KZN : No low level snow expected, but light snow is possible on the high peaks of the Drakensberg from Thursday afternoon, on and off through to Friday afternoon.
Lesotho : Light snow is expected on the high peaks in the east of the country from Thursday afternoon, on and off through to Friday afternoon.
We have noticed an increase in the freezing levels over the last 48 hours. This coupled with the moisture that we were expecting holding slightly further east, has resulted in much less snow being expected. We will keep monitoring this system over the next few days and will put out another forecast if we see any substantial changes in the weather data.
