Over 10cm of snowfall now possible for Lesotho this weekendBy Staff WriterPublished: 4 September 2025 [updated 5 September] This forecast covers: Fri 05 Sep – Sat 06 Sep
Snowfall is possible in Lesotho from late on Friday and into Saturday this weekend. Snowfall is no longer indicated for the Eastern Cape, but a slight increase is indicated for Lesotho. Light snowfall is possible for the high ground around Afriski, Mokhotlong, the top of Sani Pass, Semonkong and other areas marked on the map. A little over 10cm of snow is possible in the areas marked in purple on the map, including Afriski. Because the freezing level is quite high what may fall could be anything from a mix of rain, snow, sleet or snow pellets and it may melt quickly or right away rather than accummulating on the ground in most areas. If you are planning to travel through areas that may get snow it is worth being prepared by reading our article on safe winter travel. The map indicates where we are seeing the possibility of snow, but it may not fall in all of the areas shown on the map. As with any forecast of any kind (temperature, clouds, rain, wind), what eventually happens may or may not be similar to the forecast. Snow indicated may reduce or vanish completely in some areas, or the dates and times may change. Follow our channels
