Snowfall still possible for the Western Cape and the Northern Cape this weekendBy Staff WriterPublished: 13 April 2026 [updated 19 April] This forecast covers: Fri 17 Apr – Mon 20 Apr
UPDATE: Snow has fallen in the Western Cape. Click here for photos. Snowfall is indicated from late Friday and into early Monday for the Western Cape and the Northern Cape as per the map. Up to 10cm of snowfall is possible on the high-peaks of the Western Cape late on Friday night and up to 10cm of snow is possible on Sunday and into Monday morning, but lower down the mountains than on Friday. In the Western Cape snow is currently indicated on the peaks around Franschhoek, Paarl, Worcester, Wolseley, De Doorns, Montagu, Ceres, Tulbagh, the Koue Bokkeveld and the Cederberg, as well as on the Swartberg mountains near Ladismith (but not the Swartberg Pass). Sutherland in the Northern Cape is on the radar for some light snowfall from the early hours of Monday morning. No very low level snow that is accessible via normal vehicles is expected in the Western Cape but the light snow may be reachable in Sutherland, although it may not settle on the ground. Lesotho is no longer indicated to get any snow. The map indicates where we are seeing the possibility of snow, but it may not fall in all of the areas shown on the map. As with any forecast of any kind (temperature, clouds, rain, wind), what eventually happens may or may not be similar to the forecast. Snow indicated may reduce or vanish completely in some areas, or the dates and times may change. Follow our channels
