More disruptive rain as well as damaging wind and wave warnings for Sunday

A series of significant cold fronts are expected to persist affecting Western and Northern Cape until Sunday. The public and small stock farmers are advised that intermittent heavy rainfall, snowfalls, very cold conditions, strong coastal and interior winds and very rough seas can be expected according to the South African Weather Service (SAWS).

As the cold front exits the country on Sunday, the southern and south-western parts will still experience some rainfall with some morning fog patches in places, as well as some light snowfall at higher elevations. The rest of the country can expect fine and cool to warm conditions and Monday is expected to be clearer.

orange level 6 warning for disruptive rainfall leading to flooding of roads and settlements over the southern parts of Witzenberg, Drakenstein, and Stellenbosch Local Municipalities in the Western Cape.

yellow level 4 warning for disruptive rain leading to localised flooding of roads and settlements, is expected over the City of Cape Town, Swartland, Bergrivier, Cederberg, Drakenstein, Witzenberg, Theewaterskloof and Stellenbosch Local Municipalities in the Western Cape.

yellow level 2 warning for damaging winds and waves are expected between Table Bay and Cape Agulhas.

yellow level 2 warning for damaging winds resulting in localised damage to property and communication and power interruptions expected in places over Enoch Mgijima, Emalahleni, Sakhisizwe, Senqu and Elundini Local Municipalities in the Eastern Cape as well as Xhariep District Municipality in the Free State.

yellow level 2 warning for disruptive snow is expected over the mountainous regions of the Witzenberg Local Municipality in the Western Cape and Karoo Hoogland Local Municipality in the Northern Cape.

orange level 6 warning for disruptive rainfall leading to flooding of roads and settlements over the southern parts of Witzenberg, Drakenstein, and Stellenbosch local municipalities of Western Cape.

yellow level 4 warning for disruptive rain leading the localised flooding of roads and settlements, is expected over the City Of Cape Town, Swartland, Bergrivier, Cederberg and Theewaterskloof local municipalities of Western Cape, thunderstorms will bring large amounts of small hail.

yellow level 2 warning for damaging winds and waves resulting in localised damage to property and communication and power interruptions expected in places and disruptions to beach front activities are expected between Table Bay and Plettenberg Bay.

yellow level 2 warning for disruptive snow is expected over the mountainous regions of the Witzenberg local municipality in the Western Cape and Karoo Hoogland local municipality in the Northern Cape.

SAWS have warned of extremely high fire danger conditions in places over the eastern parts of Limpopo and Mpumalanga as well as the western parts of KwaZulu-Natal on Sunday.

GAUTENG
Fine and cool to cold. The expected UVB sunburn index: High

MPUMALANGA
Fine and cool to warm but hot in the Lowveld.

LIMPOPO
Fine and warm, but hot in the Lowveld and Limpopo Valley.

THE NORTH-WEST PROVINCE
Fine and cold to cool, but warm in the north-east.

THE FREE STATE
Fine and cold to cool, becoming partly cloudy over the western parts in the afternoon.

THE NORTHERN CAPE
Fine in the north-east, otherwise cloudy to partly cloudy and cold, but very cold in the south. Isolated showers and rain are expected over the western and southern parts. Snowfall expected over the Karoo Hoogland municipalities. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh northerly to north-westerly becoming light and variable in the afternoon.

THE WESTERN CAPE
Cloudy and cold with rain and showers in the west becoming partly cloudy over the central and eastern parts from the evening. Isolated thundershowers are expected in the south-west in the morning while snowfalls are expected over the Cederberg and Matroosberg mountains. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh westerly to north-westerly, but strong along the south-west and south coast. The expected UVB sunburn index: Low

THE WESTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Partly cloudy and cold, but cool along the coast where light morning showers are possible. The wind along the coast will be Moderate to fresh westerly.

THE EASTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Partly cloudy and cool but cold over the interior. The wind along the coast will be Moderate to fresh westerly.

KWAZULU-NATAL
Fine and warm but cool in the south-west. It will becoming partly cloudy in the east in the afternoon. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-westerly north of Durban at first, otherwise moderate to fresh south westerly. The expected UVB sunburn index: Very High
