More snowfall and freezing temperatures expected from Tuesday15 July 2021 [updated 20 July]By Staff Writer
At this point the snow is likely to beginning falling on Tuesday in the west, and the data suggests it will continue to fall periodically and more towards the east throughout the week until Friday morning. The South African Weather Service have warned of possible loss of livestock and crops over the high lying areas of the Western Cape and southern interior of Namakwa in the Northern Cape on Wednesday and Thursday due to the snow. They have issued a warning of disruptive snowfall over the Lootsberg, Wapadsberg, Penhoek, Outeniqua, Nico Malan, Winterberg passes on Wednesday. They have also issued a warning for the Lootsberg, Wapadsberg, Penhoek, Outeniqua, Nico Malan, Winterberg passes as well as gravel road passes in the Tsitsikamma, Outeniqua and Baviaanskloof mountains on Thursday. The South African Weather Service have also issued a warning for SNOW leading difficult driving conditions over the southern parts of the Free State on Thursday morning. Up to 25cm of accummulated snowfall throughout the week is currently indicated for the highest peaks in some areas in the west and south of the country, with less snow in most other areas. The map indicates where SnowReportSA is seeing the possibility of snow, but it may not fall in all of the areas shown on the map.
