Light snow possible for Hogsback, the Eastern Cape, the Drakensberg and Lesotho8 October 2019 - 11:45AMBy Staff Writer
Light snow may fall on the high-ground around Hogsback and other parts of the Eastern Cape, as well as on the high-peaks in the central and Southern Drakensberg and parts of Lesotho from Wednesday night. Very light falls and flurries may fall at altitudes as low as 1500m in the Eastern Cape from Wednesday night and into Thursday. Areas that may see some light flurries on the high-ground include Hogsback, Graaff-Reinet and Nieu-Bethesda, between Mthatha and Elliot, and the mountains around Barkly Pass, Rhodes and Tiffindell Ski Resort. Up to 2cm of snow may also fall at higher altitudes in the central and southern Drakensberg in Lesotho, as shown on the map. All snowfalls are expected to be very light and may not even settle on the ground. The northern parts of the Eastern Cape are expected to be particularly cold, as is the Northern Cape.
