Snow Forecast : 5-7 November 2018 : WC, NC, EC, Lesotho

Following up from our advanced forecast yesterday, we’re still seeing possible snow across parts of the Northern and Eastern Cape, but the data is inconsistent so we have to warn that some of the snowfalls may not materialise. We do however expect some light snow to fall on the Hex River mountains and possibly in the Cederberg tonight, as well as on the Swartberg Mountains in the Western Cape. Some snow is possible on the mountains...

Advanced Snow Forecast: Eastern Cape, Lesotho, KZN, Drakensberg: 1-3 November 2018

Snow for November?!? With the extreme heat over the last week we’ve been watching the data to see if it would be followed by a significant snow event late in the season just like last year, and looks quite likely. There is a small chance of a light dusting of snow on the highest peaks of the Eastern Cape Highlands around Rhodes and south-western Lesotho later today too. Please see our map for predicted snow-depths. It is very unlikely that there will be any low-level and...

Snow Forecast: Eastern Cape, Lesotho, the Drakensberg: 12-13 October 2018

A small weather system will deposit a light snowfall up to 5cm across the mountains around Tiffindell in the Eastern Cape from late tonight, including the possibility of a few cm on the Barkly Pass. In the early hours of Saturday morning the high peaks on the central Drakensberg and Lesotho will get between 10cm and 20cm of snow, but since the freezing level is high we don’t expect anything other than high up on the highest peaks in...

Snow Forecast: Eastern Cape, Lesotho, the Drakensberg: 3-5 October 2018

UPDATE: Some light flurries and perhaps some light settling snow on the high ground is possible tonight in the Eastern Cape between Hogsback and Cradock, and the high ground around Graaff-Reinet. There might also be a few flurries in the early morning in a thin band between Molteno and Barkley East, as well as the Rhodes and Tiffindell areas. Apart from this, we are not expecting much snow in the Eastern Cape. For KZN, snow is...
